The Classroom of Jesus
By Fr. Martin N. Umeatuegbu
Fr. Martin is a priest of our Archdiocese of Santa Fe. He holds bachelor's degrees in both Philosophy and Religious Studies, and a master's degree in Theology from Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. He also studied Sacred Theology and Spirituality at the Angelicum in Rome, and, alongside his studies there, earned a diploma in Christian Mysticism at Universidad de Santa Teresa de Jesús (UCAV) in Ávila, specializing in Saints Teresa of Ávila and John of the Cross. Fr. Martin is also trained in Thomism.
Dedicated to research, writing, and the study of several languages, Fr. Martin brings his pedagogical skills to his pastoral ministry. He holds a particular devotion to St. Alphonsus Liguori and draws on Catholic spirituality, especially the lives of the saints, to address existing problems of modern humans aiming that they see hope and healing. Central to his vision is the principle that holiness of life leads to healing, and healing leads to holiness of life, reflecting his conviction that Jesus is the only all-round Healer, as the source of both holiness and healing. He is the author of The Glories of St. Alphonsus Liguori, published in 2016.
